Travelling to Russia was more than an opportunity to visit a foreign country.
It was a journey into history, culture, innovation and the preservation of national identity.
As a Zambian media practitioner with a passion for cultural heritage, morals and values, the experience gave me a deeper appreciation of how a nation’s past can continue to shape its present and inspire its future.
My visit exposed me to historical landmarks, remarkable architecture, the beauty of rivers, old industrial structures and institutions connected to Russia’s heritage and development.

From the historic streets of St Petersburg to the iconic Red Square in Moscow, every destination offered a lesson about the importance of protecting the past while embracing progress.
The journey also strengthened my belief that culture and traditions are important to all of us, regardless of our nationality, language or background.
They tell us where we come from, preserve our identity and help future generations understand the values that have shaped their communities.
