Comedian Saulos Rules Out Matero Election Petition, Says He Chooses God’s Will

NO PETITION: I CHOOSE GOD’S WILL

During this morning’s English Mass at Lilanda Catholic Church, as Fr. Mathews Mwaba called upon the congregation to offer our petition prayers to God, I found myself asking a rather simple but profound question reflecting on the events surrounding the recent election in Matero Constituency:

Should I petition God, or should I petition the courts?

As I sat throughout the rest of the Mass, I sought God’s wisdom, not only about the election, but also about what He wants me to do next.

And somewhere between the prayers, the silence and the reflection, I felt I had received my answer

I will not petition.

This is not a decision born out of fear, bitterness or defeat. Neither is it a rejection of the concerns that have been raised about the electoral process. It is a decision I have made after prayer, reflection and listening to what I believe Christ has spoken to my heart.

Sometimes, we ask God for justice when He is asking us to demonstrate grace. Sometimes, we ask for victory when He is reminding us that our purpose is bigger than one election.
