The Zambia Cyber Security Agency has warned that people using fake online profiles to spread misinformation, bully, insult others or promote hate speech will eventually be traced and brought to book.
The Agency says it is working with other law enforcement agencies to identify, apprehend and prosecute people suspected of violating cyber laws.
In a statement to ZNBC News, the Agency said its mandate is established under the Cyber Security Act Number Three of 2025, which provides for its establishment and empowers it to implement and enforce the law.
The Agency said it has been working since the start of its operations to crack down on perpetrators of misinformation, disinformation and other cyber offences.

It said tracking and investigating cybercrime can take time because suspects must be pursued through the required legal processes before they can be apprehended.
The Agency said digital footprints can be traced even long after an offence has occurred, warning that fake online profiles do not guarantee anonymity.
It said enforcement efforts have been intensified during the post-election period following an increase in insulting language, cyber bullying, misinformation, disinformation and hate speech online.
