David Kazadi accuses law enforcement officers of leaking his ‘private’ videos

“What shocked me most was this: I gave you my phone, Uncle T, and you had access to it. The reality is these devices are called personal portable devices because they’re personal.

The things we keep on our phones don’t have to be obscene, but they are private; otherwise, we would be broadcasting them on The Icon Zambia. You catch what I’m saying,” he said.

Mr Kazadi said he trusted law enforcement officers with his phone and expected them to protect his privacy.

“So I don’t know what happened between law enforcement having my phone and a second video leaking. How can something leak when you have my devices? If you had it on your phone, it wasn’t meant for the public.

There’s a video that made me famous, the one about why I only wear bow ties. I can’t even wear a bow tie now without it being talked about. It came out the same day we were set to launch The Icon episode. Very coincidental, very timely, but okay, let’s act like it was an accident. What I still don’t know is, how did a personal video go out to the public when you had my devices? How did that happen?” he asked.

Mr Kazadi also said while in police cells in Livingstone, he spent time reading and reflecting on the cyber law.

“I understand why it exists, there are people who do revenge porn, and something needs to be done. But, and this is a big but, if you have my device and authority over me, and miraculously you find things that get released while in your custody, that raises a lot of questions.

From my understanding, and I am not a lawyer, so do your own research ,distribution is the crime. Between the person who shot the video and the person who distributed it, the distributor committed the bigger crime,” he said.
