The Electoral Commission of Zambia has set Thursday, 5th November 2026 as the date for the Mbala Mayoral, Lumezi Parliamentary and Mandevu Parliamentary by-elections.
ECZ Chief Electoral Officer Brown Kasaro says polls will also be held in 11 wards across Luapula, Muchinga, North Western, Western and Southern Provinces.
Mr Kasaro says Nominations for the by-elections will be held on Thursday, 8th October while campaigns will run from 10th October to 18:00 hours on 4th November 2026 .
The ECZ says the by-elections have arisen from the deaths of nominated and elected candidates, uncontested elections during the recently concluded General Election, and the nullification of nominations by the Local Government Elections Tribunal.
The Mandevu Parliamentary by-election follows the continued vacancy of the seat after the dissolution of Parliament and the inconclusive election held on 13th August 2026.
The Commission says it will issue further guidance to candidates in the affected districts, constituencies and wards on the nomination process.
