Transforming Landscapes for Resilience and Development -TRALARD II- Project National Coordinator JOHN BANDA says El Niño remains a major concern for Zambia’s agriculture sector.
Mr. BANDA told ZNBC News that below-normal rainfall and above-average temperatures associated with the El Niño weather pattern could negatively affect crop production.
He said the effects could also extend to water availability and livestock pasture, with wider implications for food security and economic development.
Mr. BANDA said Southern Province remains a key focus for climate change interventions because of its vulnerability to drought.
He said the TRALARD II Project is implementing short- and long-term interventions to help vulnerable communities prepare for and cope with drought.
