The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has arrested former Ministry of Community Development and Social Services Project Accountant Casious Mweetwa for alleged corruption involving K44.6 million meant for the Social Cash Transfer Programme.

Mr Mweetwa, 47, has been charged with eight counts of conspiracy to defraud the Government and theft by public servant.

ACC Head of cooperate Communications Joseph Mwenya says the funds were transferred in eight transactions into the Itezhi-tezhi District Welfare Assistance Committee account between May 2025 and August 2026, under the pretext that they were meant for SCT administrative activities.

The Commission further alleges that the money was diverted for personal gain through cash withdrawals and may have been used to acquire and maintain properties, including real estate and motor vehicles.

Mr Mweetwa has since been released on bond and is expected to appear in court soon.

The ACC has warned public officers and other individuals entrusted with public funds that the abuse or diversion of public resources for personal gain will not be tolerated.
