FRA Records Historic 3 Million Tonnes of Maize

By Angela Hanunka Food Reserve Agency -FRA- Executive Director, JUSTIN CHUUNKA says the agency has three million metric tonnes of maize stocks, which is the highest in the country’s history. Mr CHUUNKA was speaking in Kazungula district, Southern province, during an inspection of the Kabuyu FRA depot. He said the development has placed Zambia in a strong position in terms of national food security. Mr CHUUNKA said the large stockpile has also strengthened Zambia’s position as a regional food basket. And Kazungula District Commissioner ELIAS SIAMIBILA said the KABUYU FRA depot has so far purchased more than 45,000 metric tonnes of maize. Mr. SIAMIBILA said the development demonstrates Kazungula’s contribution to the Grow Zambia agenda.
