Harry Kalaba urges government to address impact of K1.4 billion health aid cut.

CITIZENS First president Harry Kalaba has expressed concern over the United States government’s decision to cut K1.4 billion in health aid to Zambia.

Mr Kalaba has warned that the move may negatively affect health outcomes for many citizens who rely on the support.

In a media statement, Mr Kalaba called on the United Party for National Development (UPND) administration to clarify how it plans to address the funding gap in the health sector resulting from the withdrawal.

He described the annual loss of USD 50 million in health support as unfortunate, particularly for key areas such as HIV, malaria, and tuberculosis.

Mr Kalaba also said reports that U.S. embassy officials held 33 meetings with senior government representatives to raise concerns, indicates persistent governance challenges.
