Komboni Podcast host Uncle Juice Boy has defended the conduct of his co-host, Ba Repair, amid criticism over controversial interview tactics used on the show.

Speaking in an interview with Lusaka Star, Uncle Juice Boy said Ba Repair’s provocative approach is not intended to embarrass or harm guests but to uncover the realities behind celebrities’ success.

He explained that while Ba Repair may deliberately provoke reactions during interviews, he steps in to mediate and ensure discussions remain productive and achieve their intended purpose.

“When Ba Repair provokes a reaction, I mediate and make sure the podcast continues and we get the answers we are looking for,” he said.

Uncle Juice Boy added that the team engages with guests after recordings to clarify that any contentious remarks are not personal.

“We make sure to talk to our guests if they take things to heart and explain that whatever was said was not meant to hurt anyone,” he said.

Meanwhile, Gilbert Shatonka, popularly known as Young Dee Siluwama, who previously appeared on the podcast, said he did not take the remarks personally despite feeling offended during the interview.

Shatonka said Ba Repair attempted to provoke him by suggesting he collaborate with veteran artist General Kanene, a comparison he found inappropriate given their different musical styles.

“As a rapper, I felt offended because General Kanene is not a rapper,” he said, adding that he had initially considered leaving the interview before being persuaded to stay by Uncle Juice Boy.

He said the situation was later resolved, and the interview ended on a positive note.

“At the end of the podcast, we still had a good time because I realized taking offense does not solve anything,” he said.
