Lusaka man breaks his ‘package’ during sex, doctors warn on enhancement products.

A 34-year-old man was treated at Levy Mwanawasa University Teaching Hospital this week for a penile fracture, a rare urological emergency requiring urgent surgical intervention, hospital officials said.

According to LMUTH, the injury occurred during sexual activity earlier in the week. Clinical assessment showed a significant penile hematoma with injury to the corpus spongiosum and complete transection of the penile urethra. The patient also reported prior use of energy-boosting drinks.

The patient was taken to theatre where urologists performed urgent surgical repair, including circumcision. The hospital said the procedure was successful and the patient is stable and recovering well.

The surgical team included urologists Dr. Muleya M, Dr. Mufaya, Dr. Lupinda C.K, and Dr. Chungu. Anaesthesia was administered by Ms. Lydia with Sr. Vivian as scrub nurse.

LMUTH said the case highlights risks associated with unregulated substances marketed for sexual enhancement, which may contribute to unsafe practices and serious health complications. The hospital urged the public to seek guidance from qualified healthcare professionals regarding sexual health concerns.
