Football analyst Augustine Mwanza has observed that Nchanga Rangers coach George Lwandamina’s dual role with the club and the Chipolopolo is taking a toll on the team, which has suffered three consecutive defeats in the transitional league.
Speaking in an interview with the Zambian Business Times – ZBT, Mwanza attributed the situation partly to the Football Association of Zambia’s (FAZ) failure to appoint a permanent national team coach.
Mwanza said combining club and national team responsibilities could strain a coach’s commitment, potentially affecting the performance of the club.
“In most cases, it does affect coaches when they start doubling up with club and national team duties because their commitment becomes strained. Nchanga fans have observed this,” he said.
He added that the situation reinforced calls for FAZ to appoint a permanent Chipolopolo coach who would not be attached to a club.

“It appears he is focusing more on the bigger assignment because, in the game against Power Dynamos, he was not on the bench. We do not know the reasons,” Mwanza said.
He further questioned Lwandamina’s preparations for the league, noting that the international break and extended pre-season provided an opportunity to prepare Nchanga Rangers for the new campaign.
“Remember, we had an international break and a long pre-season, but his focus was on the national team instead of preparing for the league opener against ZANACO,” he said.
However, when asked whether Lwandamina should be relieved of his duties, Mwanza urged the club to consider the coach’s experience and his previous contribution in helping the team move away from relegation.
