Opposition leaders BRIAN MUNDUBILE and MAKEBI ZULU have appeared before the Solwezi Magistrate’s Court on charges of seditious practices. Mr MUNDUBILE and his running mate, Mr ZULU, appeared today before Principal Resident Magistrate MAMBWE MUKONDE for plea and commencement of trial. However, the proceedings were adjourned after Mr MUNDUBILE applied for an adjournment on the grounds that his legal representatives were not present in court. Director of Public Prosecutions GILBERT PHIRI, who is leading the prosecution team, informed the court that the State was ready to proceed with the matter. Mr PHIRI, however, said that in the interest of justice, the State had no objection to the application made by the two accused persons. Magistrate MUKONDE subsequently adjourned the matter to 5 and 6 October 2026, when the case is expected to come up for further proceedings. Mr MUNDUBILE and Mr ZULU remain in police custody.
