Mwebantu wins at the Zamtel Social Media Awards

IT was a night of glitz, recognition, and celebration as Zambia’s digital trailblazers were honoured at the prestigious Zamtel Social Media Awards last night.

Stealing the spotlight, Mwebantu proudly walked away with the coveted Corporate Facebook Page of the Year, cementing its consistent position as a leading force in online media.

The evening also saw adored comedian Ba Matero dominate the stage, scooping an impressive six awards and driving home not only the glory,but also K125,000 and a brand-new Toyota Hilux.

While he is always mute in his comic stunts, most netizens were jokingly ‘shocked’ that Ba Matero actually speaks, holding back tears on joy, when he gave a vote of thanks.

Other remarkable winners included; Mutale Mwanza, who was crowned Best Instagram Influencer, Simon Mwelwa Lane, recognized as Best Vlogger, ZedPodcast, honored with Podcast of the Year, and Elton Mulenga, popularly known as Yo-Maps, who celebrated as Best YouTube Content Creator.

In one of the most heartfelt moments of the night, the late Dora Nyambe was posthumously awarded the Social Media Good Award, a tribute to her inspiring legacy of transforming the lives of vulnerable children.

The recognition given to Dora, who also holds a posthumous presidential award, is a clear show that good deeds follow people to the grave and their light continues to shine.
