By Patricia Banda The National Reconciliation Party for Unity and Prosperity (NRPUP) has withdrawn from all the by-elections for Mandevu and Lumezi Constituencies Scheduled for 5th November 2026 . The party has also withdrawn from the Mayoral by-election for Mbala District Council. NRPUP Secretary General MONDE MUBANGA has confirmed this development to ZNBC News. Mr. MUBANGA cited financial constraints and internal wrangles as some of the reasons why the party will not participate in the by-elections. He disclosed that NRPUP has since written to the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) to inform the Commission of the party’s decision. ECZ has received a letter from NRPUP dated 7th October 2026, communicating it’s decision not to participate in the by-elections. ECZ Corporate Affairs Manager PATRICIA LUHANGA says the Commission has since communicated the decision to all District Electoral Officers in the affected districts, where nominations are being conducted today ahead of the polls. Ms. LUHANGA said this in a statement made available to ZNBC News in Lusaka today.
