Government has expressed satisfaction with the progress made on the rehabilitation of the 27-kilometre Tumango Rural Resettlement Road in Kalomo District

Local Government and Rural Development Permanent Secretary for Administration GABRIEL POLLEN said the nearly K52 million project is expected to deliver significant economic benefits to both the local community and the country.

Dr POLLEN noted that Kalomo is a major farming district and ranks among Zambia’s top three maize-producing areas, making reliable road infrastructure essential for agricultural production and national food security.

He said improved road connectivity will enhance livelihoods by easing the transportation of agricultural produce to markets and reducing the cost of doing business for farmers.

Meanwhile, CLISUVIK General Dealers Quality Control Manager ANGEL MUSENGE said works on the project are progressing ahead of schedule.

Ms MUSENGE disclosed that approximately 45 percent of the works have been completed in less than three months, despite the project being scheduled for completion within 12 months
