Popular Zambian music artist Edward Chanda, known as Chanda has been arrested in Lusaka for alleged trafficking in 30.3 grammes of dry loose cannabis.

Addressing the press in Lusaka, Drug Enforcement Commission (DEC) Public Relations Officer Allan Tamba says the 28-year-old artist, who resides in Meanwood, was apprehended during an intelligence-led operation.

In a separate operation, the Commission arrested 22-year-old Eliam Masepa Chisale, also known as Ghost, who was found with 71 sachets of crystal methamphetamine, 11 rocks of cocaine and 10 sachets of high-grade cannabis.

Mr Tamba says officers also intercepted a truck at the Kazungula One-Stop Border Post carrying sulphur from South Africa to the Copperbelt, where they discovered 25 bundles of suspected high-grade cannabis weighing 111.4 kilogrammes concealed among the sulphur bags.

The truck driver, 46-year-old Cletus Mulenga, allegedly attempted to bribe officers with K10,000 to prevent the search.
