Kabwata parliamentary election petitioner Andrew Tayengwa has failed to testify before the Lusaka High Court after reporting a severe headache, forcing the court to adjourn his election petition against Kabwata Member of Parliament Danny Yenga and the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) to October 13, 2026.
The adjournment came after a witness, identified as Mr Patrick Luwaya, testified that Mr Yenga allegedly gave him 10,000 at Lusaka Golf Club on August 12, 2026, to persuade UPND supporters to vote for him in the following day’s parliamentary election.
Under cross-examination, Mr Luwaya admitted that he had not reported the alleged payment to police and had left the money at home and that he had presented no phone records or CCTV footage to court to support his account.
The court adjourned the matter to tomorrow, when Mr Tayengwa is expected to testify.
