University of Zambia political scientist Evans Daka has described the presidential inauguration slated for tomorrow as an important phase in Zambia’s efforts to consolidate democracy.

Mr. Daka told ZNBC News that the peaceful transfer of power witnessed in Zambia over successive elections demonstrates the country’s commitment to democratic principles. He noted that although no electoral process is perfect, Zambia’s recent elections were largely conducted in a manner that meets internationally accepted standards.

Meanwhile, Voice of the People Chairperson Nalukui Milapo has called on Zambians to uphold the country’s longstanding tradition of peace, unity, and order during tomorrow’s inauguration.

Dr. Milapo emphasized that the inauguration is an important occasion for Zambia and should be conducted in a peaceful, dignified, and orderly manner, as has been the tradition during the transfer of power.
