UPND Health Committee Media and Public Relations representative Jerome Nkonjela has welcomed Government’s decision to commence a comprehensive reset of the Zambia Medicines and Medical Supplies Agency ZAMMSA.
Mr. Nkonjela says the medicines supply chain is a critical pillar of the health system, and weaknesses in procurement, warehousing, inventory management and distribution directly affect patients and health workers.
He says the reset presents an opportunity to rebuild ZAMMSA on the principles of integrity, professionalism, efficiency, transparency and accountability.
Adding that the ZAMMSA reset should not only be viewed as a change of personnel, but as an opportunity to fundamentally strengthen Zambia’s medicines supply chain and restore public confidence in the availability and integrity of medicines.
