VICE-President Mutale Nalumango has joined Zambians in mourning the late filmmaker, actor, and comedian, Robam Mwape, popularly known as Mwine Mushi, whose death she has described as shocking.
Mr Mwape is reported to have died yesterday, a development confirmed by his brother and fellow actor, Owas Mwape, news which shocked many who cherished his comic performances.
Mrs Nalumango shared her memories of the afrocentric actor, saying he evoked her childhood and sense of identity.
“We all watched Robam Mwape. Through his storytelling,rooted in everyday life,he captivated the nation. His narratives were not just entertainment; they were reflections of our shared experiences.
“For me personally, his stories evoked vivid memories of my own upbringing in Kaputa village. He reminded us of who we are, where we come from, and the beauty of our ordinary lives.
“Your death is a shock to many of us. R.I.P. son of the soil,” Mrs Nalumango wrote on her Facebook page.
The actor, who reportedly suffered high blood pressure last month and collapsed at Shoprite in Solwezi, died aged 51 at Solwezi Central Hospital.
He leaves behind a wife, five children, and two grandchildren.
