Reacting after the match, head coach Moses Sichone admitted that Comoros gave Zambia exactly the kind of tough contest his technical bench had anticipated, adding that attention has now shifted to the decisive clash against hosts Morocco.

The Chipolopolo gaffer said the team lacked sharpness in the first half, particularly from the wide areas, which affected their attacking threat.

He revealed that striker Patson Daka appeared drained by the team’s system early in the game, while some players failed to execute their roles as expected.

However, Sichone noted that there was a noticeable improvement in the second half after adjustments were made during the break.

“Our system seemed to tire out striker Patson Daka in the first half, and some players did not come out as desired . But we saw some positive signs after the break,” Sichone said.

Defender Frankie Musonda also, described the encounter as physically demanding but said that Zambia is yet to taste defeat in the tournament.

“The game was tough, but it is good that Zambia is still unbeaten,” Musonda said.

Zambia will now turn their full focus to a crucial final group match against Morocco, who will enjoy home advantage.

With Morocco having drawn with Mali on match day two, to stand a greater chance of passage to the last 16, Zambia must beat the host.

Morocco currently tops the standings with four points, while Mali and Zambia are tied on two points each while Comoros sits at the bottom with one point.
