Zambja Sugar’s $76 Million Twazabuka Project to be Commissioned in August 2027

Zambia Sugar Managing Director, Oswald Magwenzi, says the 76 million US dollars Twazabuka project is on course for completion and commissioning in August, 2027.

The state-of-the-art warehousing and packaging facility will enable the company maintain a 12-month product cover, improve product safety, as well as meet a high market product demand.

Speaking in the presence of ABF Sugar Chief Executive Officer, Paul Kenward, following a tour of the construction site at the Estates in Mazabuka, Mr. Magwenzi said the project’s two-phased economic impact is already benefiting the local economy.

He stated that in the current construction phase, a Zambian contractor has been contracted, adding that several subcontractors are local entities. There were also impacts in the retailing, accommodation subsectors.

Mr Magwenzi noted that post-construction, the facility will benefit the supply chain, improve product handling, as well as employ over 150 skilled and semi-skilled personnel on a long-term basis.
