Government has called for increased investment in the coffee industry to create jobs and support the Grow Zambia Agenda

Deputy Secretary to the Cabinet OLIVER KALABO says investment in research to improve coffee plant varieties will help increase the area under cultivation.

Dr. KALABO says coffee cultivation, marketing, processing, consumption and exports have the potential to create jobs for young people and contribute to economic growth.

He says the growth of the coffee sector depends on the contribution of all stakeholders across the value chain.

Dr. KALABO was speaking when he launched the inaugural International Coffee Day commemorations, which are being held today, October 1, 2026

He said Zambia’s coffee production remains low and called for Government and industry stakeholders to work together to increase coffee cultivation, processing, branding and marketing.
