The Information and Communications Technology Association of Zambia –ICTAZ- says the digitalisation of Government services will improve efficiency, enhance service delivery and reduce congestion at public offices.

ICTAZ Board Committee Member for Operations MALITA KABUKABU says the Association is encouraged by progress made in implementing the Electronic Government Service Bus, although more Government services still need to be integrated into the platform.

Ms. KABUKABU says digital platforms are enabling citizens to access Government services more conveniently without spending long hours queuing at public offices.

She was commenting on President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA’s call for the digitalisation of all Government services during the official opening of the First Session of the 14th National Assembly.

In an interview with ZNBC News, Ms. KABUKABU said the digital transformation agenda was expected to expand as Zambia worked towards achieving the Grow Zambia Agenda target of 2031.

She also supported the adoption of Artificial Intelligence -AI, saying the country needed to embrace emerging technologies to keep pace with global developments.

Meanwhile, governance expert CHOOMA MWACHIKOKA said the digital transformation agenda outlined by President HICHILEMA has the potential to improve efficiency, particularly in public health institutions.

Mr. MWACHIKOKA said digitalising public services would enable institutions to provide services beyond conventional working hours, improving accessibility and convenience for citizens.
