President HICHILEMA said he is encouraged by the progress being recorded at Mopani, but he wants the company to build on the gains and maximise the potential of the asset.
He noted that Mopani’s licence area is extensive and there is a need for more exploration and the use of other techniques to identify and unlock additional mineral resources.
President HICHILEMA said Mopani must contribute to the Grow Zambia Agenda by increasing production, unlocking mineral resources and creating greater economic opportunities through the mining value chain.
He noted that government has demonstrated consistency in its policy environment, laws and regulations governing the mining sector, providing certainty for investment.
And Mr RASHI said his company remains committed to ensuring that Zambia meets its three million metric tonnes of copper production target.
Mr RISHI stated that Mopani will continue to exploring mining tenements that will increase copper production.
Meanwhile, ZCCM-IH Board Chairperson, PHESTO MUSONDA said Mopani has recorded its highest level of ore mining in the last three months.
Mr MUSONDA said some mining areas that had remained closed for several years are now being brought back into operation, increasing Mopani’s production capacity.
He stated that ZCCM-IH is encouraged by the progress and will continue working with its partners to unlock the full potential of the asset.
