Kambwili’s big mouth lands Mundubile in ACC trouble

THE Anti-Corruption Commission has warned and cautioned Mporokoso lawmaker Brian Mundubile over road contracts worth K1.5 billion, nearly 90 days after his presidential opponent Chishimba Kambwili vowed to “finish” him over alleged shady road construction deals.
Kambwili, who took a bitter personal turn in the PF presidential race, accused Mundubile of issuing invoices to the PF-led government for work that was never done.
The vocal former information minister claimed he possessed explosive evidence of the Mundubile stealing from the people of Zambia.
But upon arrival at the ACC headquarters this morning where he had been summoned, Mundubile declared he had nothing to hide or fear.
Late last year, a heated phone conversation with PF Northern Province publicity secretary Charles Kashishi went viral on social media, where Kambwili swore he would see Mundubile arrested soon and insisted that he had all the proof needed to make the law act against him.
Then today, the Anti-Corruption Commission said it had summoned Mundubile, for questioning over road construction contracts worth over K1.5 billion awarded to companies in which he had an interest.
According to the ACC, the said road works, works were across Eastern, Western and Central Provinces which were never done.
ACC Acting head of corporate communication Chilufya Chisanga, said the investigation is part of standard procedures and that Mundubile fully cooperated with the questioning.
“I can confirm that the Anti-Corruption Commission, ACC, did summon Mr. Brian Munduride, a CoroCoso member of Parliament, and he has since been interviewed,” Chisanga said.
Mundubile’s arrival and departure was of peaceful.
However, chaos erupted outside ACC premises after former Zambia Medicines and Medical Supplies Agency (ZAMMSA), who escorted Mundubile, engaged in a heated verbal exchange with police officers.
But so wrong was his timing that as soon as he began pointing his well-nourished
fingers and shouting, officers pounced, swiftly airlifted him before bundling him into the back of their CDF-purchased Land Cruiser like a 90 kilogram “moloshi” bag of beans destined for a school feeding programme in Kalumbila.
Onlookers murmured in disbelief, some laughing as they whipped out their phones to capture while shouting “politics teyabana iyo”.
Despite the commotion, Mundubile was calmly driven off in his white Toyota land cruiser and left the premises.
