Former Lands Minister SYLVIA MASEBO has denied reports circulating on some media platforms alleging that she described the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) as the most corrupt institution in the country.
In a statement released on her social media page today, Ms. MASEBO said she had never made such remarks, either publicly or privately.
She said the statements attributed to her were false and misleading, and amounted to a deliberate misrepresentation of her position.
Ms. MASEBO said that, as a long-serving public servant and political leader, she fully appreciates and respects the constitutional mandate of the ECZ as an independent institution responsible for managing the country’s electoral processes.
She said the spread of misinformation not only damages reputations but also risks undermining public confidence in democratic institutions.
Ms. MASEBO said she remains committed to promoting constructive dialogue, national unity and the strengthening of Zambia’s democratic processes through truth, integrity and responsible leadership.
