She said that President Hichilema had successfully navigated the country through challenging times to rebuild its economy and resilience to shocks, including drought, disease outbreaks and global uncertainties created by external conflicts.
She also congratulated the President on his re-election and inauguration following last month’s general elections.
Ms Mutali said that she had closely followed the Head of State’s work during his first term, which she noted helped the country overcome a number of challenges.
“Over the last four years, I saw Zambia overcome a number of challenges; there was the debt crisis which your Government found a way out of through debt restructuring, then there was the cholera outbreak and the worst drought in 50 years as well as global uncertainty. What also stood out for me was the resilience of the Zambian people and a nation committed to moving forward. Your Government has also taken essential steps to build better resilience and preparedness to deal with climate shocks,” Ms Mutali said.
She said President Hichilema’s administration had laid a strong foundation for the country to utilise its natural resource endowment and youthful population to accelerate development.
