Zambia’s women’s national volleyball team has suffered a 3-0 defeat to hosts Kenya in their opening Group A match at the 2026 CAVB Women’s African Nations Volleyball Championship at the Kasarani Indoor Arena.

The Malkia Strikers dominated proceedings in front of their home fans, winning the first set 25-14 before cruising through the second 25-9. Kenya completed the clean sweep with a 25-11 victory in the third set.

For Zambia, head coach Arnold Simulezi says the team has had a slow start but will look to regroup and improve ahead of their next Group A encounter.

Zambia will now shift focus to their next match against Mali, taking place on Wednesday, 26 August at 13:00 Zambian time as they look to bounce back from the defeat and keep their campaign on track.

The championship is being hosted in Kenya from August 25 to September 5, with Zambia drawn in Group A alongside hosts Kenya and Mali.
