According to the StockBrockers Zambia weekly equity for the market period ended 25 September, 2026, the British American Tobacco (Zambia) is reported to be the lead price gainer on the exchange recording an increase of K0.03 or roughly 0.23%.

Commenting on the matter a well-known Broker told Zambian Business Times-ZBT that the increase in the company’s share price is mainly due to investors K 0.30 per share dividends approved by the Board of Directors for the British American Tobacco.

Speaking in an interview with ZBT the source noted that most investors are trying to purchase stock in BATZ which is then being reflected in their price gaining.

“The increase in share price seen for the BATZ stock is because more investors want to purchase shares in the company, so as to position themselves to benefit from the approved dividends,” said the source.

A further check by the ZBT indicates that in accordance with the requirements of the Securities Act No. 41 of 2016 of the laws of Zambia and listing Rules of the Lusaka Securities Exchange, a notice was issued given that the interim dividend shall be payable to shareholders registered in the company’s books at the close of Business on Friday 15 September 2026 being the record date.

Further, since share trading on the LuSE operates on a 3- day rolling settlement period, and the last date to trade and qualify for the announced dividend was set to 22 September 2026. And Dividends payments to be posted on 28, September 2026.
