THE Road Transport and Safety Agency (RTSA) has announced a reduction in bus fares nationwide, effective July 6, 2026, following a downward adjustment in fuel pump prices.
In a statement issued by Chilufya Mwelwa, Head – Public Relations.
RTSA said the revision was approved by the Ministry of Transport and Logistics after consultations with the Buses and Taxi Owners Association of Zambia.
The fare cuts include a 6.2% decrease on Inter-City routes. Inter-Mine routes and Peri-Urban routes in Lusaka and other towns will drop by K3.00. Local routes in Lusaka, the Copperbelt and other towns will be reduced by K1.00.
RTSA said the adjustment follows the Energy Regulation Board’s reduction in fuel pump prices for July.
The Agency urged all Public Service Vehicle operators to comply immediately with the revised fare structure.
