Cabinet has approved the proposed 2027 National Budget, setting the stage for its presentation to Parliament on Friday, November 6, 2026.

The approval covers the proposed estimates of revenue and expenditure, alongside revenue mobilisation, public expenditure and structural reform measures for the 2027 fiscal year.

In a statement, Information and Media Minister and Chief Government Spokesperson Elvis Nkandu says Cabinet has called for prudent fiscal management as Government moves to translate the Grow Zambia Agenda into concrete programmes and activities.

Cabinet says sustained macroeconomic stability will be critical to strengthening investor confidence, encouraging private sector participation and supporting economic transformation and growth.

The approval comes as Government prepares to outline its spending priorities, revenue mobilisation plans and fiscal measures for the coming year.

Meanwhile, Cabinet has approved the signing of a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement between Zambia and the United Arab Emirates.

The agreement is expected to improve market access for Zambian goods and services, promote export diversification and attract investment into productive sectors.

Cabinet has also approved in principle the introduction of the Trade Remedies Bill of 2026, which seeks to strengthen the legal framework for protecting local industries against unfair international trade practices.

The proposed legislation will consolidate trade remedies under one law and provide safeguards for domestic industries in line with World Trade Organisation rules.

The decisions were made during the third Cabinet meeting of the second term of President Hakainde Hichilema’s administration, held at State House on Friday, October 30, 2026.
