The Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) has set Thursday, November 5, 2026, as the date for the by- elections for Mandevu and Lumezi parliamentary seats as well as 12 local government seats around the country.

The local government elections will be for the Mbala mayoral in Mbala District and 11 wards in Luapula, Muchinga, North-Western, Western and Southern provinces.

The affected wards were Lungwishi Ward in Mansa District, Makaba and Nkonge Wards in Chipili District, Nachikufu Ward in Mpika District, Lubaleshi Ward in Kanchibiya District, Maako Ward in Kasempa District, Siluwe and Upangoma Wards in Kalabo District, Mfunda Ward in Sioma District, Mulimambango Ward in Sesheke District and Simanwa Ward in Choma District.

Mr Kasaro said the by-elections in Mbala, Lumezi and the 11 wards had arisen from various circumstances, including the deaths of nominated and elected candidates, elections being uncontested during the recently concluded General Election, and the nullification of nominations by the Local Government Elections Tribunal.

Mr Kasaro said the Mandevu Parliamentary by-election had been necessitated by a vacancy that continued to exist following the dissolution of Parliament and the inconclusive election held on August 13, 2026.
