MUNDUBILE, MAKEBI LINKED TO ZIMBABWEAN MILITIA GROUP AS ZIMEYE RAISES ALARM WITH UN.

A Zimbabwean investigative journalist has alerted the United Nations headquarters over allegations that individuals linked to a dangerous militia group are being sheltered at the UN office in Lusaka.

The journalist, who runs the ZimEye platform, is understood to have contacted the United Nations headquarters after reportedly failing to get through to the UN office in Zambia.

According to a recorded conversation shared on ZimEye, the journalist claims to have been tracking a Zimbabwean militia group which he alleges has now established links with Zambian opposition figures Brian Mundubile and Makebi Zulu.

The journalist further alleges that members of the group have been involved in serious acts of violence, including killings and sexual assaults, with some alleged victims reportedly suffering severe injuries.

During the conversation, the United Nations headquarters reportedly expressed ignorance of the alleged presence of the individuals at its Lusaka compound.

The journalist, however, pressed the UN to establish the identities and whereabouts of the people he was referring to and, if found to be wanted for criminal offences, hand them over to the Zambian authorities for investigation.
