The Lusaka High Court is today 19th October 2026, expected to hear a bail application by Brian Mundubile, Makebi Zulu and 17 others, who are currently at Lusaka Central Police over alleged treason, sedition and terrorism-related offences.
The 19 applicants want the court to order their release or grant them bail under reasonable conditions pending trial.
The applicants have sued Attorney General Mulilo Kabesha and others, arguing that their continued detention without trial violates their constitutional rights.
They say ongoing investigations cannot justify keeping suspects in custody indefinitely and are willing to comply with any bail conditions imposed by the court.
The applicants are also asking the court to declare their detention unconstitutional, citing the constitutional right to be tried within a reasonable time or released.
