Nigeria have reached the final of the 2026 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup for the first time after defeating Brazil 3-1 in Wednesday’s semi-final in Morocco.

The Flamingos will face Japan in Saturday’s final as they seek to win their maiden title in the competition.

Nigeria secured their place in the final with a strong second-half performance after the teams went into the break goalless.

Queen Joseph opened the scoring in the 56th minute to give Nigeria the lead before Awawu Bashiru doubled the advantage in the 71st minute.

Bashiru completed her brace in the 80th minute to put Nigeria 3-0 ahead and strengthen their grip on the match.

Brazil pulled a goal back in the 89th minute through Greise Kelly, but the late effort was not enough to prevent Nigeria from securing victory.

The win marked Nigeria’s first appearance in the final of the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup.

The Flamingos will now turn their attention to Japan, who booked their place in the final after defeating defending champions North Korea 4-1 on penalties following a 1-1 draw.

The final is scheduled for Saturday, November 7, in Morocco.
