Five street vendors have been apprehended and fined by the Fast Track Court for engaging in illegal trading in Lusaka’s Central Business District.

According to Lusaka City Council (LCC) Assistant Public Relations Manager Mr Bulumba Nyambe, the vendors were picked up in separate operations conducted by a joint team of Zambia Police and Council Police on Tuesday, November 3rd, and Wednesday, November 4th, 2026.

The trio appeared before the Fast Track Court, where they were fined K500 and K200 each, respectively, with varying prison terms in default of payment or one month and two months.

He says two other vendors, Theresa Zulu and Philimon Shamoye, were apprehended today Wednesday for selling fruits near Fairview Hospital, also known as NIPA, and mobile phones along Katondo Street.

They have subsequently being fined K300 and K500, respectively, while their merchandise was returned to them.
