By Mwila Nsofu The Judiciary says there is NO Presidential petition before the Constitutional Court. Judiciary Deputy Director Corporate Communications KALUMBA SLAVIN says by close of business yesterday, August 25, 2026, the Constitutional Court Registry had NOT received any Presidential petition. Mrs. SLAVIN said this in a statement issued to ZNBC News today. This means the inauguration of President -elect HAKAINDE HICHILEMA will go ahead as the seven-day period provided for filing a petition to challenge the presidential election expired yesterday. Yesterday, Secretary to the Cabinet PATRICK KANGWA announced that the swearing-in of President-elect Mr. HAKAINDE HICHILEMA will take place on Tuesday, September 1, 2026. Mr. KANGWA said the swearing-in will proceed in accordance with the Constitution of Zambia.
