The Public Private Dialogue Forum -PPDF- says there is an urgent need to address financing gaps in the health sector.

PPDF Health Technical Working Group Co-Chair LACKSON KASONKA says this can be achieved by developing more sustainable domestic financing models.

Professor KASONKA was speaking in Lusaka today during the second meeting of the PPDF Health Technical Working Group.

He said Zambia also needs to increase local production of essential medical commodities to support national development.

Professor KASONKA said Government has a central role in driving these efforts, while the private sector can provide innovation, expertise and investment.

He said health financing solutions must ensure that all citizens can access healthcare without suffering financial hardship.

And Working Group Co-Chair SHALEIN DESAI said the group’s goal is to support President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA’S economic agenda, in which Government creates an environment for private-sector participation and investment.

The meeting focused on developing a framework for public-private collaboration to improve health financing and the sustainability of the health sector in Zambia.
