Syria–Israel Security Talks Report
Syria and Israel have reportedly begun preliminary talks on security cooperation aimed at reducing Israeli strikes against key military sites linked to the Syrian government in Damascus.
According to reports, the head of Israel’s Mossad intelligence agency and Syria’s Foreign Minister held preliminary discussions in Baku, Azerbaijan, focusing on security arrangements and mechanisms to prevent actions from Syrian territory that could threaten Israeli security interests.
The discussions reportedly included understandings intended to prevent Syrian territory from being used for activities that Israel considers a security threat, potentially creating a framework for reducing Israeli military strikes against Syrian government military infrastructure.
If implemented, such arrangements could also have broader regional implications, particularly for Türkiye’s reported interest in establishing military bases or expanding its military presence inside Syria. Any agreement limiting foreign military deployments could create obstacles for Ankara’s plans.
However, the reported talks and any preliminary understandings remain subject to further negotiations, and their scope and implementation have yet to be independently confirmed.
