Times of Zambia scooped four awards at the Media Institute of Southern Africa (MISA) Zambia Media Awards held at Mika Convention Centre in Chongwe District on Friday, October 9, 2026.

The awards recognised journalists from print, broadcast and online media for excellence in various reporting categories.

Emily Kuwema won the Best Environmental Justice Award, while Ketra Kalunga scooped the Women and Climate Action Award.

Emily Kuwema and Jones Chilikazi, award-winning journalists, posed for a photo with the news editor, James Muyanwa; the features editor, Kali Muluzi; and the sports editor, Elias Chipepo.

Julius Phiri was recognised in the Water, Sanitation and Hygiene category, while Jones Chilikazi also received an award in Best Print-School Health.

Ketra Kalunga, an award-winning Jounalist, posed with Canadian High Commissioner Cory Van Gaal and other officials.

Meanwhile, Zambia Daily Mail journalists also received recognition at the ceremony, with the newspaper named Champion Media House. Its journalists were honoured in several categories, including food security and nutrition, environmental reporting, mining and community accountability, antimicrobial resistance, school health coverage and climate change reporting.

Speaking at the ceremony, Canadian High Commissioner to Zambia Corry Van Gaal said journalists played an important role in disseminating information and contributing to national development.

Ms Van Gaal said journalists faced numerous challenges in gathering information and producing stories, adding that the awards were an important way of recognising their hard work and dedication.
