The ruling United Party for National Development (UPND) says it is ready for the November 5, 2026 parliamentary and local government by-elections, UPND deputy spokesperson Elvis Nkandu has said.
Mr Nkandu said the party viewed the by-elections as an opportunity to demonstrate its commitment to development of the nation.
The party, he said, would use the by-elections to connect with voters and make the case for continued support of the New Dawn Government.
“This is another opportunity for us to appeal to the citizens and ask them to give us the mandate to continue delivering development,” Mr Nkandu said in an interview.
He said the UPND remained focused on service delivery and would continue championing the interests of ordinary Zambians.

“We remain the voice of the voiceless, particularly when it comes to service delivery. Our focus is on ensuring that development reaches the people,” he said.
He expressed confidence that the party would secure a significant number of the seats being contested.
“We are going into these by-elections prepared, and we believe the people still have confidence in the UPND and its ability to deliver development,” he said.
Mr Nkandu appealed to voters to support UPND candidates in the November polls.
The Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) on Friday announced by-elections for the Mandevu and Lumezi parliamentary constituencies, as well as the Mbala mayoral seat and 11 local government wards.
The November 5 polls would give voters in the affected constituencies and wards an opportunity to choose their representatives, while political parties seek to consolidate support ahead of the next electoral cycle.
