Zambia has called on South Korean companies to explore investment and joint venture opportunities in the country’s infrastructure sector, particularly through Public-Private Partnerships.
Zambian Ambassador to South Korea ANDREW BANDA says the successful construction of the Kazungula Bridge demonstrates the potential for increased cooperation between Zambia and South Korea in infrastructure development.
Mr. BANDA says the Zambian Government appreciates the contribution of South Korean engineering company DAEWOO E&C to the construction of the 923-metre bridge linking Zambia and Botswana across the Zambezi River.
He said this when he appeared on South Korea’s Arirang Television programme, Diplomat’s Archives and Hidden Stories, where he discussed the regional significance of the Kazungula Bridge and Korean engineering expertise in Zambia.

Mr. BANDA said the Kazungula Bridge has become a strategic gateway linking Zambia to markets in Zimbabwe, Namibia, South Africa and beyond.
He said the bridge has improved the movement of people and goods while creating opportunities to expand regional trade, logistics and supply chains.
Mr. BANDA has also called on Korean railway construction companies to explore opportunities to establish a rail crossing at the Kazungula border.
He said integrating road and rail infrastructure would improve bulk cargo movement and strengthen the region’s multi-modal transport network.
And Ambassador BANDA has called for the establishment of a resident Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Lusaka.
He said a resident Korean mission would provide a more direct channel for strengthening bilateral relations and expanding cooperation between Zambia and South Korea.
This is contained in a statement issued to ZNBC News in Lusaka by the Zambian Embassy in Seoul.
