Government has warned that it will not tolerate individuals or groups threatening Zambia’s peace and stability for personal or political interests.
Home Affairs and Internal Security Minister CLEMENT ANDELEKI says everyone must respect the law, regardless of their position, and has urged political parties, churches and other organisations to operate within the confines of the law.
Speaking during the handover ceremony at the Ministry, Mr. ANDELEKI said his priority is to maintain a peaceful, united and secure country as Zambia pursues the Grow Zambia Agenda.
He said he will draw on his previous experience in the Ministry to strengthen national security.
Meanwhile, outgoing Minister JACK MWIIMBU, who has since taken over as Justice Minister, urged Ministry officials to support his successor, noting that peace and security are critical to investor confidence and national development.
Mr. MWIIMBU also called for continued cooperation between the Ministries of Home Affairs and Justice to strengthen investigations, prosecutions and the administration of justice.
