ZANIS- Itezhi-Tezhi District Commissioner TOBIAS NAMANTEMBA has warned livestock owners against transporting cattle without the required permits and documentation. The warning follows the impounding of 17 cattle in two separate incidents in the district. The cattle, comprising seven animals being transported from Mbabala to Kasempa and ten from Kalomo into Itezhi-Tezhi District, were intercepted for allegedly being moved without the necessary permits. The incidents occurred in Chief KAINGU’S area, where community members working alongside the district task force helped track down two trucks after they initially evaded interception. In a statement, Mr NAMANTEMBA commended the task force and community members for their vigilance, saying the operation demonstrated the importance of enforcing the law and safeguarding the district’s livestock industry. He warned that anyone found transporting livestock illegally would face legal action and urged farmers and livestock owners to ensure all animal movements comply with established regulations. Meanwhile, investigations by the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock established that another consignment had valid documentation for 14 cattle, while six animals lacked the necessary paperwork. The six cattle were later cleared to proceed after their brand marks were verified. The owners of the 17 impounded cattle are expected to appear in court as authorities continue with the matter in accordance with the law. #ItezhiTezhi #LivestockDevelopment #TobiasNamantemba #AnimalHealth #CattleFarming #LawEnforcement #FisheriesAndLivestock #ZNBCNews #Agriculture #RuralDevelopment
