The Bank of Zambia has announced the issuance of a 20-year Government bond as part of efforts to develop and expand longer-dated financial instruments in the domestic market.

The newly introduced 20-year Government bond will form part of the benchmark bonds and is intended to support the development and growth of longer-term financial instruments in the market.

The central bank has also announced that the fourth quarter of 2026 will have an auction size of 2.2 billion kwacha for Treasury bills and 6.3 billion kwacha for Government bonds.

According to a public notice issued by the Bank of Zambia, Treasury bill auctions will be conducted every two weeks, while Government bonds will be issued twice during the quarter.

The Treasury bill auctions for the fourth quarter will be held on October 1, 15 and 29, November 12 and 26, and December 10 and 24, 2026.

Meanwhile, Government bond auctions are scheduled for November 20 and December 18, 2026.
