By White Luhanga

Construction works at Paul Mushindo University in Chinsali District, Muchinga Province, have reached 70 per cent completion following the resumption of the project in 2025.

The university project started in 2013 but stalled in 2018 under the initial contractor, Covec Construction Limited.

Works resumed in 2025 under a new contractor, Hua Jiang Investment Limited.

Resident Engineer SPEEDWELL NKHOMA says significant progress has been recorded since the new contractor took over the project.
Mr. NKHOMA says works completed so far include plastering, window installation, roofing of two hostels and plumbing.

He says a new contract was awarded to Hua Jiang Investment Limited in 2025 to complete the remaining works at a cost of more than 300 million kwacha.

Muchinga Province Deputy Permanent Secretary BRIAN SICHANDE, who inspected the project, said the resumption of works demonstrates the Government’s commitment to completing stalled infrastructure projects.

Mr. SICHANDE has called on the contractor to expedite the works and ensure the project is completed on schedule.

He said once completed, the university will benefit not only the people of Chinsali and Muchinga Province, but also students from across Zambia and beyond.
