President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA has unveiled what he described as the Grow Zambia Agenda, a development programme that will shift the country from economic stabilisation to accelerated growth.
The Grow Zambia Agenda will be driven by a set of ambitious economic and production targets, popularly captured as the 10-10-5-3-3-1-1-1 targets.
Under the plan, Zambia is expected to produce 10 Million tonnes of maize by 2031, generate 10,000 megawatts of electricity and attract five million tourist arrivals annually.
In his inauguration speech, after being sworn in at the National Heroes Stadium in LUSAKA, President HICHILEMA says the targets extend beyond the traditional pillars of the Zambian economy.

The President says copper production will be increased to three million tonnes, while soya bean production will also rise to three million tonnes.
Zambia will further target the production of one million tonnes of wheat, establish a one-billion-dollar beef industry and increase sugar production to one million tonnes.
President HICHILEMA said the second term will therefore be defined by a transition from stabilisation to growth, with government expected to translate macroeconomic stability into tangible improvements in the lives of ordinary Zambians.
President HICHILEMA said his ambition is to triple the size of the Zambian economy over the next five years.
He said government will tackle the cost of living by expanding and creating opportunities for citizens to participate meaningfully in the economy.
Central to this approach, President HICHILEMA said will be wealth creation, giving more Zambians the capacity to generate income and widening the base from which wealth can be distributed across society.
