Iran Just Let Iraqi Tankers Through Hormuz and Trump’s Claims Look Ridiculous

IRAN JUST LET IRAQI TANKERS THROUGH HORMUZ AND TRUMP’S CLAIMS LOOK RIDICULOUS

Iran has granted permission for a number of Iraqi oil tankers to pass through the Strait of Hormuz. The approval followed repeated requests from Baghdad during Iranian parliament speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf’s visit to Iraq.

This is a significant development for Iraq. Oil sales generate nearly 90 percent of government revenue, and the strait’s closure has sharply reduced Baghdad’s ability to export. The passage provides some relief to an economy heavily dependent on crude exports.

But here is the part that makes Trump look foolish.

The US president has repeatedly claimed total control over the strait. He said he would declare it a US territory. He called the naval blockade a wall of steel with nothing Iran can do about it.

Now Iran is letting tankers through. Not America.

Iran decides who passes. Iraq asks Iran for permission. Iran grants it. The US is not involved.

Trump claimed the strait would only be opened and closed under Iran’s command. Iran is proving him right.

If America has total control, why did Iraq have to ask Iran for permission to move its own oil. And if the blockade is really a wall of steel, how did Iran just let Iraqi tankers through.
